Upsall Herd Health

Upsall Shorthorns continue to strive to produce quality high performance cattle with excellent health records.

The PCHS high health scheme for pedigree and commercial, beef and dairy herds works in partnership with vet practices and farmers throughout the UK.  They offer a cost-effective cattle health programme of testing and management to control major endemic cattle diseases including BVD, Johne’s Disease, IBR, Leptospirosis and Neospora. They also offer TB herd Accreditation.

Upsall are members of the Premium Cattle Health Scheme (PCHS) in which we plan to eradicate Johne’s and IBR. The Calves are vaccinated with rispoval intrinsically at 10 days and given a booster at housing.

We have been accredited for BVD since 2000 and have an annual test.  We are in a 4 year TB testing area.

All cattle going to shows and sales are vaccinated with BVD lepto and IBR marker vaccines.

Johne’s Disease

All cattle over two years are tested every year.
